Trading schedule changes due to Memorial Day




Dear traders! Please pay attention to the trading schedule changes due to holidays.

On May 28th, the United States of America celebrates Memorial Day.

Thereby, the New York Stock Exchange will be closed for the observance of the public holiday, in honor of men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Trading with XAU/USD and XAG/USD will close early at 20:00 (MT Time).

Uncommon currency can break new ground for smart traders

There is one thing that nobody tells newbie traders at the very beginning of their Forex career: it is not necessary to trade only the major currency pairs in order to get more profit. In fact, trading uncommon currency pairs, while using certain knowledge, can bring great benefits too. 

Most online guides and trading gurus recommend new traders to concentrate on classical and popular currency pairs such as: US Dollar, Euro, GBP, Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen. The reason for this is quite simple - at a glance, major currency pairs, which are often referred to as “majors” are easier to track, have smaller spreads and higher liquidity. But it’s important to remember that there are dozens of pairs at your disposal.

What are the minor currency pairs?
In Forex trading, minor currency pairs normally include the Euro, Yen or British pound. The most common minors include:

EUR/GBP (EURO/ British Pound)

EUR/AUD (EURO/Australian Dollar)

GBP/JPY (British Pound/Japanese Yen)

NZD/JPY (New Zealand Dollar/Japanese Yen)

GBP/CAD (British Pound/Canadian Dollar)

The prices of these currencies tend to change frequently, so if you do your analysis right, you can be very successful.

A few tips to trade minor currency pairs:

1. In order to make your chances for success higher, you need to start from one or few currency pairs to trade and stick to them. This way, it will be easier for you to manage trades and maximize your profits. 

2. Learn as much as possible about the selected currency pair. 

In other words, look at a currency in relation to its political, financial and economic background. Find out fundamental factors it depends on and if it is a subject to technical analysis in order to be able to predict its’ price fluctuation maximum precisely. 

3. Define the trading session of the selected currency pair and plan your working time accordingly.

Although it is true that Forex is an open market 24 hours a day, there are three main sessions: Tokyo session, London session and United States session. Currency pairs with the US dollar fluctuate more intensively during the American session, the same goes for the Japanese Yen and Asian session, and so on.

4. Remember, nothing can replace raw trading experience. The more you trade, the more you get to know selected currency pairs, their peculiarities and possible price fluctuations.

RBA meeting will set the way for AUD/USD

The Australian dollar has suffered a lot since the end of January 2018. Recently AUD/USD fell to the lowest levels since June 2017. However, the Reserve Bank of Australian does not want the Australian dollar to strengthen because it would threaten the nation’s economic growth. As a result, the central bank keeps its interest rate at the record low of 1.5%.


According to the RBA governor Philip Lowe, the “Australian dollar has depreciated a little recently, but on a trade-weighted basis remains within the range that it has been in over the past two years. An appreciating exchange rate would be expected to result in a slower pick-up in economic activity and inflation than currently forecast.”



The Reserve Bank of Australia will release its rate statement at 7:30 MT time on June 5. Although there are no doubts that the RBA won’t increase the interest rate at this meeting, it’s still worth reading the central bank’s statement. There will be an outlook on current economic conditions and clues on the future monetary policy. The dynamics of the AUD will depend on the tone of the RBA.

• Dovish RBA – weak Australian dollar;
• Hawkish RBA – strong Australian dollar.

Production orders in America dive by 0.8% in April

In April, new orders for goods produced in the United States headed south more than expected that was provoked by a dive in demand for transportation equipment as well as spare parts, although the key trend kept determining a firm impetus in the manufacturing sector.

Orders for factory stuff slumped by 0.8%, as the Ministry of Commerce informed on Monday. As a matter of fact, the data for March was updated to show that orders headed north by 1.7% instead of the previously achieved surge of about 1.6%.

Market experts forecast that in April production orders would go down by 0.5%. Compared to 2017 orders rallied by 8.3% in April.

The monthly sag in production orders will probably be temporary in the face of sturdy production conditions in May. A survey conducted the previous week disclosed that moods among producers were much better in May due to a leap in new orders.

Orders for transportation equipment went down by 6% due to a 28.9% sag in the wavering category of orders for civilian aircraft. Transportation orders managed to ascend by 6.9% in March. Orders for vehicles went up by 1.0% in April.

Orders for equipment went down by 0.7% having sagged by 3.1% in March. It influenced the reduction of orders for mining, gas and oil equipment by 11.6%. As for orders for industrial machinery, they inched down by 10%.

There was a dive in the number of orders for PCs. However, orders for household appliances, electrical equipment as well as components dipped by approximately 1.8%. Orders for factory metal products along with primary metals have slumped too.

Shipments of key capital goods employed to calculate the cost of business equipment in the GDP report rallied about 0.9% in April versus a 0.8% jump the previous month.

April winner of the “Dreams Come True” contest got a special surprise




The April winner of the “Dreams Come True” contest, Mr. Muhammad Taufik, impressed us with his outstanding FBS Team spirit. He lives in Bangkalan City, Madura, East Java with his wife and 4 kids, and his wish was to invite people from FBS Indonesia over to his house:
