Robo Therapy Could Help Stroke Patients

Recommended Posts

Welcome to robo rehab.

New research shows that robots could help stroke survivors improve arm and shoulder function by moving a patient's paralyzed arm in various pre-programmed directions. Earlier this month, researchers from Japan's Kitasato University East Hospital in Kanagwa presented their findings at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference, according to the American Heart Association. In the study, 40 patients who had recently suffered a stroke received standard therapy daily from an occupational therapist. Thirty-two patients also underwent robotic therapy, while the other participants spent the same amount of time on a self-training program. The patients receiving robotic care improved more than the patients in the self-training program, the study found. :smile:

That will be good if the program could help the patient from stroke. If people who suffered stroke can move his body again, that will make them feel better.

guys please read the article carefully. it said 32 patients already underwent the procedure and the result is that people with robotic therapy improved more than those that are self-trained only. :wacko: i hope you get it now lol.

Yes, thanks for your informations but I can't imagine how much cost that we must spend to get that help. It must be a lot of bucks.

yes i think so too becuase as i analyze it i think using a rbot is accurate as it will act as what is told or programmed

I would rather chose human therapy because, they can control what they are doing, unlike the robot which only depend on how it is programmed to do. Well the good thing for a robot is that it doesnt get tired at all. That is his consolation.. hehehehe

well when it comes to robot i think there is more accuracy because they are programmed to do that but still i am scared when i am in as a patient

@neng

Yeah, I won't try it on me if I am patient before there is proof that it is safe for me. It can make our condition worse :D

well i guess it's not just your therapist that made you walk again pj, it's actually you, your determination to be healed. :smile: so it worked for you, means you save a lot of cash because you never needed a robo therapist. :wacko:
