What is a breadcrumb in the Google search console?

Google Search uses breadcrumb markup in the body of a web page to categorize the information from the page in search results.  Breadcrumb markup can be implemented using JSON-LD,  or Microdata. It can also be implemented as part of a page's visual design using HTML.

Google recently announced a new Breadcrumbs report available in the Search Console to inform site owners about markup issues. The Search Console's new report uses this data to help site owners fix any issues preventing their breadcrumbs from displaying as rich search results.
