Onpage optimization (AKA on-page SEO) refers to all measures that can be taken directly within the website in order to improve its position in the search rankings.

Off-page SEO refers to the actions that you do outside of your site to raise the ranking with search engines. It is not just limited to link building. Off-page is done to get a lot of high-quality links leading to your pages, to make search engines understand that you’ve got great content which may be the type of information that will provide value to the users.
