Thailand’s immigration police raided a scam cryptocurrency call center in Bangkok and arrested twenty four Chinese national.

Those twenty-four Chinese nationals have apparently been renting a house in the city and using it as their base of operations.

The Thai police put out a statement, according to which the perpetrators of the scam have been targeting people in mainland China, offering them trading with digital currencies on the Huobi Global cryptocurrency exchange and have been doing so since March this year.

The police also suspects a Thai citizen to have been involved in the scam, but so far there has been no arrests of any such individuals.

Chinese citizens often seem to pick Thailand as their destination of choice to conduct scams against other Chinese citizens, why Thailand exactly, I wonder.
