KYCbench Posted March 16, 2019 Report Share Posted March 16, 2019 The French regulator CNIL (National Commission on Informatics and Liberty) fined Google with 50 million euros for violating the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). The regulator imputes Google a lack of due transparency in obtaining consent to the processing and use of personal data of users. Also, the company is not clear enough and clearly conveys to users exactly how their personal data will be used, and the purpose of data processing and storage duration are scattered across Google across several documents. The message on the CNIL website states that this is the first time that the regulator has applied the maximum fine that is provided for by the new regulations. According to the regulator, in late May 2018, the commission received collective complaints from human rights groups NOYB (None Of Your Business) and LQDN (La Quadrature du Net), which were signed by more than 10,000 people.
