An Informative Review About My Website Launch

       (0 reviews)

This article is contributed by Guy Siverson – Author, Blogger and Online Marketer. He has been a celebrated Online SEO Marketer since the early 90’s. Guy’s greatest joys are his family and friends as well as helping educate and inspire others by coaching and speaking engagements that target other people’s success in their own entrepreneurial careers.

You have a plan. So, did Thomas Edison. His plan was to turn on the lights. Yours is to take the world by blog.

Done right you will be able to succeed with your plan much quicker than 100+ fails before you find an attempt that works. Done wrong, Edison might be the winner. That's the difference that quality marketing training and/or coaching makes. There are tons of people that have succeeded in both camps. One is just easier for most people.

    Starting My 60 Day Journey

About 60 days ago, I decided to launch a site for Affiliate Marketers by an Affiliate Marketer. This is a very competitive niche so I had my work cut out for me. The first several days found me putting together the structure of the blog and then redoing it again and yet again.

LESSON #1: Avoid repeating steps and processes by firmly understanding what you want to accomplish with your Website.

In some ways, I thought I had a good idea. Nav bar holding pages which lead to categories of targeted posts I’ve written. In this way, I would be making the best use of all the different elements available within WordPress.

I also set out to write one new quality post daily. I could hold to this for the first month till other priorities came along that needed to be addressed.

LESSON #2: Be willing to be flexible as your project grows so that you can address new issues as they arise.

Aren’t those holiday days when everyone gets together and celebrates? As it turned out, that wasn’t my plan this year. You see, I had been posting 2 or 3 images per post generally. If I had 30 posts then that would be something near 150 posts. It was 200.

While speaking with an industry peer we got onto the topic of optimizing images. I typically name the file an update the ALT tag. After all, why worry about more? Well, in that conversation he mentioned about image accessibility.

I knew nothing about this, so I listened.

LESSON #3: Be willing to learn and grow as you learn new things about blogging.

Putting everything in a nutshell. Google wants to appeal to everyone which would absolutely include blind people. Image accessibility requires the updating of each image in 4 main ways.

    1. Title
    2. Caption
    3. ALT text
    4. Description

Sites who take the time to follow their processes and procedures simply rank better. Because I am on hyper-drive as it relates getting this site into prime time, guess what I spent time doing? If you said renaming each image in the project, your right. It took the better part of 15 hours to get the work all done.

LESSON #4: When needing to do major updates schedule the time in reasonable chunks.

I didn’t and should have, probably would have if I wasn’t on such a mission to get this site into primetime. It was incredibly exciting when I received the first live contact.

As of this writing, I’ve not yet established an actual business contact but people are absolutely reaching out.

LESSON #5: Keep in touch with your audience’s engagement.

No matter what niche you are in there are other people offering their slant on related products and services. Be slow on response and someone else will take your place as it relates to ROI benefits.

So, monitor your incoming eMail as well as your social connections and anywhere else where engagement from possible clients or customers can happen.

    Be My Guest

As the first 30 days, neared completion another friend of mine started talking about off page linking strategies.

They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. His favorite, and now my own personal favorite, is guest blogging. That talk propelled me forward into an area I haven’t paid much attention to.

In a nutshell, guest blogging is where you write for other people’s blogs. This benefits you by increased domain authority from higher ranking domains pointing inward toward your site.

LESSON #6: Off-page marketing strategies are at least just as important as on-page, maybe even more.

Create a solid strategy and follow it. I now write 2 guest blogs daily. That’s about 3000 words. If that sounds like a formidable foe, then set yourself a plan that works for you and follow it. Forward Motion It has been a very busy time for me over the last several months.

Some nights the amount of sleep I got was very small. However, I believe it will all be worth it in the long run.

Per the numbers on Alexa (what I term as the oil gage or stick of your website) I’m at 1,500,000 and have been climbing weekly at a steady rate of 200,000 points. Once I break out of the millions that are when things really start to happen, or so the story goes.

My 90-day mark arrives on Jan 23rd. It is my hope to either break the million mark by then or at least be very close to doing so.

LESSON #7: Set reasonable goals and find ways to track their fulfillment as you bring your project to life.

Closing Thoughts About Site Launch Typically, bringing a site into prime time can take about double the time I have spent. However, if you are as determined as I am you can achieve results much faster.

    Dream it.

    Do it.
