Tagvillage.com is a recently launched innovative website which combines social networking, a search engine, and keyword ownership.

Tagvillage users can purchase 'tags' (or keywords). When you buy a tag, you own it. When someone buys it from you, they buy it at a set raised price, making you a profit. The price of all tags starts at $0.10. So if you happen to find a tag that does not have an owner yet, it will cost you $0.10 to purchase it. The price of the tag goes up as members (lets call them Tagvillagers) buy the tag from one another. So the more popular the tag, the higher its price going to be. Tag 'Google' is currently $10 away from costing $1000. 'iPhone' is also approaching that mark. Most popular brand name tags have obviously already passed the $100 mark. If you have been following, then you must be beginning to see the huge monetary potential of tag trade. If you are lost, let me bring you to up to speed: since users can only buy tags for a higher price from the previous owner, the previous owner always makes a profit from a tag sale. The more expensive the tag, the more higher the profit.

Why do tagvillagers spend so much money on these tags?

Because when tagvillage.com leaves beta, advertisers will start pouring in and they will target certain tags. If you own a targeted tag, then the advertisers will pay you money for usage of that keyword. Obviously, the more expensive the tag, the higher your commission will be.
