Queens Park Rangers vs Burnley

Home - Queens Park Rangers

Last away matches - L-L-L-L-L-L

Harry Redknapp has made it very clear that he feels Queens Park Rangers are going to get the majority of their points at Loftus Road this season after another setback on their travels during the week. There is little doubt that his team have been like Jekyll and Hyde when comparing performances from home and away games through the season, but they have to pick themselves for a game like this against another team fighting for survival. After the results came through during the week, Queens Park Rangers were dropped to 19th in the Premier League table, but they remain in touch with the teams around them and can move out of the relegation zone with a win. The side have a respectable 322 record at Loftus Road this season where they have scored 12 goals and conceded 10 so far. Queens Park Rangers have only won 1 of their last 5 games in the Premier League, although that was an important 32 win over Leicester City here last weekend. That recent form has seen the majority of the poorer results come away from home and Queens Park Rangers have only lost 1 of their last 6 home games while also winning 2 of their last 3.

Away - Burnley

Last away matches - W-L-D-L-D-L

A few weeks ago, many would already have put a fork in Burnley as far as their ability to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season. However, Sean Dyche and his players have become accustomed to the level expected of them in this Division and Burnley have responded by picking up some vital points in recent weeks to get back in touch with the teams in the safety positions. The draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday means Burnley are up to 18th in the Premier League table and, like Queens Park Rangers, they will feel a win will take them out of the bottom three. That does mean improving on a 123 away record which has seen Burnley score 4 goals but also concede 11. Since the 30 loss at Arsenal, which was the culmination of a 3 game losing run for Burnley in the Premier League, the side have responded by putting together a 4 game unbeaten run. In that time Burnley have picked up 8 points to move up the table and they will arrive in West London knowing they did win their last game away from Turf Moor 12 at Stoke City

Stoke City vs Arsenal

Home - Stoke City

Last away matches - L-L-W-L-L-W

Stoke City have begun to capitulate with the games coming quick and fast at the moment, and injuries have not helped their cause. Victor Moses, arguably their best player this season has been ruled out for approximately 8 weeks, only serving to add further misery to an offense that has already been missing Peter Odemwingie all term. However, the hosts still have weapons with the likes of Mame Biram Diouf and Bojan Krkic, and the former was nearly the hero when they traveled to Old Trafford over the midweek. With time running out on the Potters as they stared at a 1:2 deficit, Diouf would see 2 golden opportunities squandered due to some excellent goalline work from David De Gea and Ashley Young. They will certainly have felt hard done-by, but so goes the unforgivable nature of football and they must push on when they get back to their home fortress to welcome Arsenal to town. They have drawn twice and won twice in their last 4 meetings with the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium, and confidence will be plentiful despite the 3-match losing streak.

Away - Arsenal

Last away matches - W-L-W-W-L-W

Arsenal FC travel to the Britannia Stadium in a renewed vigor of form, having won their last 3 competitive matches while maintaining the clean sheet in each outing. Against an ailing Stoke City attack, that serves as great news for Gunner fans headed into the weekend. We tipped Laurent Koscielny’s absence as a major reason for their constant defensive woes, but the Frenchman has returned and has instilled a bit of confidence and quality to the backline. His performance against Southampton over the midweek was one to be admired, and manager Arsene Wenger hailed his compatriot’s importance to the team. While vital players like Walcott, Ozil, and Debuchy remain on the sidelines here, the visitors are beginning to finally get healthy once more, as perhaps their horrendous luck with the treatment table is beginning to subside. However, if they don’t find a way to break their 4-match winless streak at the Britannia Stadium, the title chase will get further and further away. At 13 points adrift Chelsea, the Gunners have to be nearly perfect the rest of the way, and while they will certainly find the going difficult here, they should be able to nick all 3 points by the match’s conclusion.

Home - Southampton

Last away matches - L-D-W-W-L-W

What is encouraging for the fans of Southampton before the duel is the fact that they have played two draws against Manchester United last year, which only confirmed that they are no longer in such a subordinate position than before. In addition, coach Koeman’s players have opened this season in the best possible way and made even eight wins, one draw and two defeats in the first 11 Premiership rounds, with the fact that they received only five goals during this period. But then came their first draw of 1-1 away against Aston Villa, which has somewhat announced a decline in their form, which resulted in two defeats, first at home by Manchester City with even 3-0, and then last week away against Arsenal with 1-0. And to make matters even worse this series of tough matches continues on Monday, when they are hosting Manchester United, while Koeman has problems with his team, since midfielders Schneiderlin and Ward-Prowse and strikers Rodriguez and Gallagher are all out of action from before due to injuries, while defender Alderweireld and midfielder Cork also joined this list recently.

Away - Manchester United

Last away matches - W-L-D-L-D-L

The most successful English team is welcoming this derby of 15th Premiership round in a much better mood, given that they in the previous four rounds made the same number of wins and have thus for the first time this season came to the fourth position in the standings. Coach van Gaal’s players have used their lighter schedule in the best possible way in the last four rounds and celebrated three times at home against Crystal Palace, Hull and Stoke, while perhaps they showed the most mature game at home against Arsenal, which they defeated with 2-1.For this reason, now against the third-ranked Southampton we again expect a maximally aggressive, but also extremely offensive approach from “Red Devils”, especially since they announced a return of the recovered Rooney. On the other hand, their injured defender Jones and Evans, defenders Rafael and Shaw and midfielders Blind and di Maria are all still out of action, so van Gaal will practically be forced to use Valencia and Young instead of them, which will by itself further accelerate their game, especially in attack.

Eibar vs Almeria

Home - Eibar

Last away matches - L-W-L-W-L-D

Eibar are still fighting to avoid the relegation zone to this season and they are sitting on the 11th place at the moment with six points above the relegation zone. They can be happy with this result because they are newcomers in La Liga and their goal was to remain in the league. Arruabarrena is the club’s top scorer and he will be oping to lead his team to a win in this encounter. Last week Manu’s smart first-half finish earned Eibar a shock 1-0 win at Celta Vigo. The forward on loan from Sevilla tucked home a through pass just moments after seeing an even better chance saved by goalkeeper Sergio.

Away - Almeria

Last away matches - W-D-L-L-W-W

A rough start to the season has left Almeria just above the relegation zone but an away game against Eibar could lift Almeria up the table if they can get a win. The problem for Almeria this season has been pretty obvious with only nine goals scored in 13 games. The main problems are obviously upfront where Almeria just haven’t had a striker that has gained any traction. Almeria stopped a run of four consecutive defeats in round 12 with a 0-0 draw at Granada. However, they lost 0-1 in a home encounter against Rayo Vallecano last week.

Levante vs Getafe

Home - Levante

Last away matches - D-L-D-L-D-D

Levante are still in the lower part of the table, but play recently a bit better compared to the beginning of the season. They have managed to win two times in a row at home and that put them bit higher in the standings, where the especially valuable was a victory in the city derby over Valencia. They won a point away in Seville, after three points previously won against Almeria, however, in the last round they lost away to Espanyol after they took an early lead that match. They couldn’t retain it even to the half time and by the end they received one more. They weren’t brilliant in the Cup on Friday when they played against second-league Albacete, and the match ended with the result 1-1, although it must be said that a combined team played. Now will play the strongest one as they have no problems with suspensions or injuries.

Away - Getafe

Last away matches - L-W-W-L-L-L

Getafe also had a very bad start of the season after which they had a good period, while now again play quite poorly and haven’t won the last three matches played in La Liga. They convincingly defeated Eibar in the Cup on Friday by 3-0 and it could be an additional motive for this match, with which they want to stop the negative series in the championship. In the last round they lost at home to Athletic by 2-1, but they could easily won a point in that match but did not use their chances and had scored the only goal in the injury time. Before that, they lost by the same result and in a very similar way to Villarreal away, but they scored the goal a bit earlier. For the match against Eibar in the Cup, coach Contra didn’t change much the team and only a couple of new players had got a chance, while now will play the same team as in the previous round except midfielder Sarabia who is suspended due to yellow cards. The logical replacement is Lafita, who will now play in the midfield together with Sammir.

Home - AS Monaco

Last away matches - W-L-W-D-L-W

AS Monaco have been doing pretty well at home this season in all competitions. In UCL play, they have 1 win and 1 draw in their opening 2 home matches with only 1 goal scored against none allowed over these 2 games. In French Ligue 1 matches, Monaco have managed to win 3 times and only lose twice at home through 8 matches played there. Overall only 2 losses in 10 home games isn’t to shabby as they will look to continue their strong home performances with a win on Tuesday evening. Monaco boast a more defensive-minded approach to the game of football as they look to take away an opponents will to win before striking. Dimitar Berbatov has been in fine form lately as he comes off a 2 goal showing away at Toulouse in their last match on Friday. Expect more of the same as Monaco will need to force a draw or win to advance out of the group stage in this season’s Champions League competition.

Away - Zenit St. Petersburg

Last away matches - W-L-W-L-D-W

Zenit St. Petersburg are a very good Russian League team as they currently sit in 1st position, a whole 7 points above 2nd place. They are currently enjoying 4 wins over their last 5 games overall including an impressive 4-0 win over Krasnodar on Saturday. The short week could hurt them. But there can be no excuses here in the last round as they absolutely must win to advance past the group stage, knocking Monaco out in the process. This is not an easy task however as Zenit have to beat them in Monaco. Overall, Zenit have been very solid on the road this season as shown by their 7 wins in their last 10 away matches including one against Benfica in UCL group stage play. Hulk and Rondon will need to add to their incredible 15 goal tally to push Zenit into the knockout rounds. They will need these deadly attackers to show up once again if they are to advance past a tough Monaco defense on Tuesday evening.

Benfica vs Bayer Leverkusen

Home - Benfica

Last away matches - W-L-W-L-D-W

Benfica Lissabon are certainly the best team in Portugal at this point of the season. Sitting in 1st position with a +21 goal differential in the Portuguese Primeira League is no small feat regardless of where you hail from. They have put together an impressive resume the last few seasons as they were invited to participate in this season’s UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately for Benfica, they drew a rather tough group to play in with powerhouses such as Monaco, Leverkusen, and Zenit to go up against. They did not do well as could be expected, only winning 1 game the entire group stage 1-0 against Monaco at home. This win comes against a team that Leverkusen couldn’t beat in either match, losing both by the same score of 0-1. So Benfica may actually stand a chance on Tuesday despite the fact they have nothing outside pride to play for. Winning 6 of 8 at home in UCL and League play is not simple by any means as they have successfully put away an impressive 15 goals scored over these 8 home games. Incredible Brazilian youth Talisca has been on an insane pace this season scoring 9 goals already over 14 games in all competitions, including the winner in their only UCL win against Monaco. Benfica will need to want this win despite the meaningless implications if they are to come out on top of a deadly Leverkusen team.

Away - Bayer Leverkusen

Last away matches - L-W-W-L-W-D

Bayer Leverkusen will enter Tuesday’s evening clash in Lisbon with the key advantage of win to claim the group. They will put everything they have into this game despite coming off an emotional 0-1 loss to Bayern Munich on Saturday. Traveling has not been Leverkusen’s strong suit this season as they only have gathered 4 wins over 10 away games through UCL and German Bundesliga play. But, they have won 2 times on the road already in UCL play over 3 total games which saw them dismantle one of the deadliest home teams in the world in Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1 back in early November. The incredible scoring talents of Karim Bellarabi and Heung-Min Son have pushed Leverkusen into the top of this years UCL group. There is a combined 18 goals scored between the pair in all competitions including 5 from Son in UCL play. As they look to claim 1st place, these 2 star attackers will need to continue their dominate play if Leverkusen are to safely come away with the win. A draw could see them finish in 2nd place so expect them to come out to play their typical, hard-nosed football on Tuesday evening in Portugal.

Galatasaray vs Arsenal

Home - Galatasaray

Last away matches - W-L-W-L-L-W

The key man for Galatasaray is their midfield maestro, Wesley Sneijder. The Ajax youth product may not be the same player that he was a few years ago, but the Dutchman can still produce a match winning moment of magic every once and a while when he is called upon to do so. The former treble winner has created a chance every 42 minutes for the Turkish side in the league and one every 65 minutes in the Champions League. This shows that the former Real Madrid man and his team have had trouble readjusting from the lower level of competition in the Turkish League to the top quality in the Champions League. However, as he has shown with the Dutch national team, Sneijder has the quality to turn a match with one moment of magic. If he is able to produce one of those moments against Arsenal, it would go a long way to Galatasaray getting the victory.

Away - Arsenal

Arsenal have unsurprisingly been bit by the injury bug and have been bit hard. The gunners will definetly be missing Theo Walcott, David Ospina, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta, and Mathieu Debuchy who have been out for extended periods of time. The English side may also be missing Tomas Rosicky, Nacho Monreal, and Yaya Sanogo who will all have fitness tests before the game. Along with all the injuries, Arsene Wenger has already confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will be rested. It would not surprise anyone of Wenger decided to rest other players as well before the hectic English Christmas period. Galatasaray wil be without Blerim Dzemaili and Hakan Balta.

Home - Juventus

Last away matches - D-W-W-W-L-L

This will now be an additional motive for multiple Italian champions to attempt to get revenge on Tuesday night in the same way, especially since they would with a victory of at least two goals end up as first in the group and thus probably get an easier opponent in the second round of the Champions League finals. However, for the home team it is especially important to stay undefeated in this match, because they would thus mathematically qualify for the next round, given that the third Olympiakos currently lags three points.Coach Allegri’s players came to the key differences between these two teams came in the last two rounds, when they celebrated at home against Olympiakos and away in Malmo, while Greek champions at the same time recorded an away win against Atletico. Otherwise, Juventus keeps everything under control in their domestic championship, and despite the draw with Fiorentina in the last round, they still have three points more than second-ranked Roma, which only says that they are entering maximally relieved in the battle with the Greeks. As for their team before this match, defenders Barzagli, Caceres and Marrone and midfielders Asamoah and Romulo are all still out of action due to injuries.

Away - Atletico Madrid

Last away matches - W-W-L-W-W-L

Unlike Juventus, Atletico is playing this Tuesday’s match exclusively for prestige, but also to remain in the first position in Group A, which will not be jeopardized even with a minimal defeat, because now they have a much better goal difference than the Italians, and in addition to this they have also mastered them at home with 1-0 in the second round. This match was the start of the positive series for Madridistas, since they recorded four victories and thus ensured a place in the knockout phase, given that they at moment have six points more than third Olympiakos. All this has certainly given them a major boost in the domestic championship, where they in the last three rounds recorded as many wins, after which they still retained third place in the standings with two points behind Barcelona and four in comparison to the leading Real Madrid. In addition, coach Simeone can be quite pleased with the fact that his players made four consecutive wins without any goals received, which only speaks that they will now against Juventus primarily rely on their strong and disciplined defence, while they will look for a chance exclusively from fast counter-attacks. Let us add that only the injured defenders Miranda and Ansaldi are out of action for this match.

Liverpool die hard fans may remember one bit of history though. And that is when back in 2004, Liverpool hosted Olympiacos on match day six of the Champions League group stage (almost 10 years to the day actually), which was the last occasion when they were involved in a winordie situation final group match at Anfield in the competition. In that match Liverpool went behind in the game, but came back to win 3 1 and qualify. Not only that, it was the season that they went on to win the trophy.

Away - Basel

Basel are solid at the back and have conceded just two goals in their last four Champions League matches coming into this match. Basel does not have an impressive record in England as they have a W1 D4 L6, but they managed a historic and impressive win on their last visit to England. That was when they beat Chelsea 21 in last season’s group stage. However, That was their first success in England after ten previous tries. It should be noted that Basel have lost just one of nine previous meetings against English opposition in the Champions League, and have won each of their last four against English sides. But to date they have failed to pick up an away point after a shock loss at Ludogorets and defeat against Real Madrid.

Last away matches - W-W-W-W-W-W

Real Madrid stand ahead of chance claiming their 6th win in the UEFA Champions League group stage of the 2014/2015 season. The Spaniard have won all of their matches in Group B scoring altogether 12 goals and conceding only 2. Out of the three rival teams in the group only FC Basel and Ludogorets managed to score at least a goal while playing against Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s side remains undefeated since the Atletico Madrid league clash from 13th of September. It means Real have not lost a single game for 18 matches. What’s more they not only did not lose but they did not lose any points in thouse 18 games. No wonder then that Real are atop the Primera Division league table. The capital club won during the last league match agianst Celta de Vigo with the 3:0 score. Cristiano Ronaldo add to his stats another hat-trick and improved his La Liga’s record to 200 goals. In Europe Real’s last match took place in Switzerland where they took the three points from FC Basel (0:1). Since nothing will change in the table for Real Carlo Ancelotti may give some of his players some rest – expect then some line-up changes.

Away - Ludogorets Razgrad

PFC Ludogorets Razgrad can still win the 3rd position and qualify to Europa League. The Bulgarian team was treated as the definite losers where compared to their company in Group B of Real Madrid, FC Basel and FC Liverpool. Yet, the team from Sofia fought with the rivals on equal terms, won against Basel and took one point while hosting the Reds. Ludogorets are now bottom of the group table but with three points they will be the 3rd team. An eventual draw at Santiago Bernabeu will give them the Europa League but only in a case of a draw between Basel and Liverpool. Ludogorets have never won against a Spanish side. Borussia Dortmund vs Anderlecht

Home - Borussia Dortmund

Last away matches - L-L-D-L-W-W

Borussia Dortmund have been absolutely atrocious in domestic action, as a victory last time out pulled them out of the league’s basement and into 14th place. For a team loaded with individual quality, they have been shockingly bad at times this season. However, much of that can be credited to the fact that they have been dealing with injuries to key players all season, most notably that of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, arguably their 2 best players. But there is reason for optimism headed into the midweek, as Dortmund have been in excellent form in the Champions League this term and are close to claiming 1st place in their group for the third successive year. They tore through Anderlecht in Belgium when they met the first time, as 2 second-half goals from Adrian Ramos sealed the comfortable 3:0 win. But the big news for the hosts was the return of their defensive rock Mats Hummels last time out, and they immediately sealed the clean sheet after conceding exactly 2 goals in their previous 3 competitive outings. Now they have some defensive stability to rely upon, and a win will see them claim the group while a draw will likely yield the same result considering their significant goal differential advantage over Arsenal. The visitors have never beaten German opposition in the group stage.

Away - Anderlecht

Last away matches - L-L-W-D-W-D

RSC Anderlecht are headed to the Europa League after finishing in 3rd place in Group D. As the group underdogs headed into the competition, they can hold their heads high after some spirited performances saw them pick up 5 points through 5 matches. Now they will travel to Germany for a game that holds little meaning for the visitors, and manager Besnik Hasi could opt to rest a few players after their wild affair over the weekend saw them fall in defeat 4:2. That spelled their second straight loss on the road, and they have now conceded 12 goals in their last 5 road trips in all competitions. But this team has loads of quality as evidenced by their comeback against Arsenal when they were down 0:3 in the second half. Veteran right-back Anthony Vanden Borre sparked their late surge with 2 goals, and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic capped the all-important road point with a stoppage-time equalizer. They took the confidence they gained in that match and conquered Galatasaray in their last UCL outing, using an excellent display from centre-back Chancel Mbemba to seal the win and 3rd place in the group. However, with nothing to play for this Tuesday, their trip to Dortmund should be a different tale similar to that of their first meeting, when the Belgian club was conquered 3:0 by the superior Germans.

AS Roma come into the clash off the back of their 2-2 draw with Sassuolo. For that game though the decision was taken to rest several key men for the match with City. Gervinho, Totti and Ashley Cole were all able to rest themselves for the match in hope that they will be ready and firing for the English side’s arrival. They were also able to welcome back Kevin Strootman for the first time since his knee surgery. Whether Strootman will start against City after such a long layoff is unclear but his presence back in the squad will be a huge lift to the Italians and he could play some part in the game. With a near fully fit side available to him for the visit of Manchester City Rudi Garcia could be confident of getting the result needed to secure his sides safe passage to the Knockout Round.

Manchester City wasn’t already massive, they will now have to go into the clash with Roma missing a few of their key players. As if missing their best player so far this season wasn’t enough they will also be without Yaya Toure at the heart of their midfield. The big man from the Ivory Coast is still serving his suspension. Maybe most importantly they will be without their captain Vincent Kompany. A night like this, with what is at stake is exactly the type of match you need the leader of your team. Kompany’s absence could be sorely felt as he won’t be to push the team through what should be an epic battle against

Barcelona vs Paris Saint Germain

Last away matches - W-W-W-W-W-L

It has been eight seasons since Barcelona last failed to win their Champions League Group and they do know the importance of overturning Paris SaintGermain this season. The pressure is off in the sense of Barcelona already booking their place in the Last 16, but there is little doubt that winning the Group does offer a much 'easier' prospect in the Second Round as teams like Arsenal have found to their cost in recent seasons. The defeat at Paris SaintGermain is the only one that Barcelona have suffered in the Group, but they have at least put themselves in a position to win the section. By winning their other four Group games, Barcelona are just 1 point behind PSG in the Group and beating them at the Nou Camp, where they have won 6 of their last 7 Champions League games, will win them the Group. Barcelona have won 7 in a row in all competitions since their surprising 01 loss to Celta Vigo and they have scored 23 goals in those games. The Catalans have also won 8 of their 9 home games in all competitions at the Nou Camp with the sole exception being that loss to Celta Vigo.

Reaching the Quarter Finals of the last two Champions League tournaments has underlined that and Paris Saint Germain can make another statement by winning this Group containing Barcelona and Ajax. In all honesty, Paris SaintGermain and Barcelona have dominated the section, although PSG did slip a little by not beating Ajax in Amsterdam. That has opened the door for Barcelona to win the Group by beating them in this final game of the section, although PSG will point to their 32 win over Barcelona at home as proof they can cause a surprise. Paris SaintGermain are actually unbeaten in their last 25 games in all competitions which should improve confidence as they head to the Nou Camp, while they have won 10 of their last 11 games. They are also unbeaten in their last 14 away games in all competitions, although PSG are just 212 in their last 5 away games in the Champions League.

Bayern Munchen vs CSKA Moscow

Home - Bayern Munchen

Last away matches - W-L-W-W-D-W

Bayern still has everything under its control in all competitions. They are already at this early stage in a situation that can play with absolutely no pressure. Because of that they lost for the first time this season in the last round of the Champions League, when they played away against Manchester City and lost by 3-2, despite that they scored two goals with one player less on the pitch. It is all forgotten and the only important outcome is that use Benatia cannot play, because he was the one who was sent off in that match. He played instead in the derby against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday in order to give Dante time to rest who will now play for sure. Undoubtedly there will be more changes because some players have to take a break, before all Xabi Alonso, who was brilliant after his arrival from Real Madrid. Rode, Schweinsteiger, Hojbjerg, and Shaqiri could play in the midfield. Maybe we will see more changes but the list of injured players is quite long, so Guardiola doesn’t have too many available players.

Away - CSKA Moscow

No one hoped that the CSKA might have a chance to qualify in the last round for the Round of 16 in such a strong group. However, this team haven’t surrendered, even after losing the first two matches, where the first one was a total disaster. The turning point was the third round when they were losing at home to Manchester City by 2-0 and were written off at that moment. They pull-off one point and then sensationally triumphed in Manchester, which was their best performance so far. That triumph turned out to be quite expensive because they then lost after that two league matches in a row, which caused to have seven points less than the leader in the Russian championship. Now are again in a good mood and after the draw with Roma, which had left them in the game for the Round of 16, they won three championship matches in a row. Regarding the team, only midfielder Elm is out of action and they will play with the strongest team and in an offensive formation as they have nothing to lose.

Coach Mikel San Jose is confident of grabbing the third place in the group, but is not willing to downplay his opponents. BATE defeated Bilbao earlier in the season that started a string of defeats for Bilbao.Bilbao won their previous group game against Shaktar Donestk that did not do much good for their hopes of progressing as they were already out of the race. The young Spanish midfielder is the heart of the Bilbao side and as an academy graduate; he is all what Bilbao setup represents. Lightening quick and sharp vision, he can deliver defence-splitting passes with ease. BATE needs to keep him in check.

BATE Borisov have been the whipping boys of the Group G, losing games by huge margins namely against Shaktar and FC Porto. BATE’s negative 20 goal difference is one disappointing record. The Belarusians had problems scoring goals, but were in their elements against equally appalling Athletic Bilbao side when they met the last time. The Belarusian defender is an important part of the stable BATE defence. His contribution to attack as well as defence this season has been decent enough. Needs to step up against Bilbao

Legia Warsaw need 1 point to finish the group L on first place. Bad news is that after recent Europa League match against Lokeren, club have been punished by UEFA due to misbehavior from their fans. Legia got 100k euro fine, but the worst news is that Pepsi Arena will be closed for two next home matches in Europe. So, hosts will have to play without support from the fans not only against Tranbzonspor, but also in the home game in round of 32. “Everyone would prefer to play with full hosue, but we cannot do anything with it. As a club, we must avoid similar situations in the future. Tomorrow we need to do as much as possible to play well. If we lose then we won’t be making any excuses,” said coach Henning Berg. He also spoke about their nearest rivals: “It was a balanced group. Trabzonspor have a new coach and their results are good, recently they defeated Galatasaray. They lost just 1 game with new coach, against leaders, Besiktas. It’s a very good team with great players such as Cardozo, Constant, Erdogan or Yilmaz. We are gaining experience which should help us in the future.

Trabzonspor had a tough beginning to this season, as a result coach Vahid Halihodzic has been sacked. He’s been replaced by Ersun Yanal, who is an experienced coach (he worked with the Turkish national team in the past). Yanal did a very good job with the team and Trabzonspor are much stronger under his management. Not only the results have greatly improved, but they also play much more attractive football. Halihodzic preferred defensive football, whereas Yanal decided to play very attacking football. He uses offensive 4-3-3 formation, with Cardozo, Yatabare and Majeed up front. A couple of important players, like Cardozo or Ekici, are in very good form now.

Besiktas vs Tottenham Hotspur

Last away matches - W-W-D-W-L-W

Besiktas are doing very well this season, both in domestic and European competitions. Team is on top of Turkish Super Liga, whereas they are now second in group C of Europa League (already sure of going further). Besiktas will come on top of group C in case of victory in the last game, against Tottenham. “We will do everything in order to win the game. There is a good team spirit. We are gradually achieving our aims. Team is focused on the game, we need to approach this match cautiously, it’s the best way. Our aim is to come on top of this group,” said coach Slaven Bilic. He doesn’t like the fact that his team will have to play league game on Sunday: “I don’t get why we cannot play on Monday, just like Trabzonspor do. This situation repeats again. There must be ups and downs. We are playing with the same players for a long time. Our aim is to keep the same level in every game.”

Away - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are struggling in the English Premier League (now 10th place) and that’s their biggest problem. Recently they only get 1 point from home goalless draw against Crystal Palace. “I’m disappointed and frustrated but at the end I think the result is fair. We always want to get the three points. This was a good chance for us to get three points but it was difficult,” said coach Mauricio Pochettino. Just like Bilic, Pochettino is also unhappy with the calendar: “We’ve played four games in nine games, had one day less to prepare after Chelsea. This is the schedule and we have to accept it but it’s reality”. Now comes a tough game in Turkey. “I think it’s a good challenge for us to go to Besiktas and to play for first place. The Europa League is a very good competition, we play against good teams and you know it’s always going to be a tough game. We have the possibility to show what Tottenham are able to do, but we know we have to be solid. It’s always a pleasure to play in these games and we are looking forward to playing away to Besiktas,” said Benji Stambouli.

Everton are struggling in the English Premier League (they are on 12th place now), but in Europa League they have been performing much better and they are already sure of topping group H (whereas Krasnodar is already out). As a result, there will be many changes in the squad and many youngsters will get their chance. “It's a game that is a celebration. With one game to go we are top of the group and Krasnodar have no opportunity to go through. That allows us to experiment with the line-up without devaluing the competition. Joel Robles will play in goal and we're going to have Christian Atsu, Steven Pienaar, Arouna Kone, Bryan Oviedo, Conor McAleny, Antolin Alcaraz, Tyias Browning and Luke Garbutt playing because they have been working extremely well. And then we're going to have a couple of youngsters that are really, really exciting.

Karabakh Agdam vs Inter Milan

Home - Karabakh Agdam

Last away matches - W-D-W-D-W-L

Qarabag are the second Azerbaijani side which qualified to the group phase of Europa League (Neftci were the first, 2 seasons ago). Qarabag do well this year in Europe, first of all they knocked out Dutch side Twente on their road to group stage. Now, they have a big chance of progressing further, but good result against Inter is needed. Draw would be enough provided that other game in this group, between St. Etienne and Dnipro, also ends in a draw. Otherwise, hosts have to beat Inter. Normally, visitors would be the favourites, but Inter have already secured 1st spot in this group and Italian side is going to rest many players. That’s why Qarabag’s chances are pretty high, although players still expect a difficult encounter. “It's a tough match. Everyone knows how hard it is to win in Serie A, so just imagine what it is like to play against an Italian club on the international stage. Obviously we'll do all we can to win. They say that Roberto Mancini will not take his best players to Baku, but I'm not sure that's a plus for us. The guys that need playing time will do all they can to impress their coach.

Inter are doing well in the Europa League, but their performances in Serie A are not good. As a result, a couple of weeks ago Roberto Mancini has been named as a new coach. He started with a draw in the prestigious derby against AC Milan, but then came two defeats: against Roma and Udinese. As a result, Inter are now only 12th in the table. That’s why every Serie A match is now of a highest importance for them. For this Europa League game Inter is going to rest many players, a couple of youngsters will get a chance.

The hosts have picked up a total of 9 points. But they need to get ahead now a victory against Sparta. Guests namely a point more, while Naples has a better balance and would result in case of defeat against Slovan continue to be better placed. But the hosts do not break their head about it especially since they realize that they would settle with a win against Sparta everything. Since they have won easily in the previous two home games against Slovan and Naples, their optimism is justified. Young Boys currently has a great series of six victories. This five wins were brought within the scope of the championship, where they are located on the third position. This todays match against Sparta will miss the injured central defender Burki, midfielder and striker Zarata and Vitkieviez Gerndt.

So the guests fits on Thursday evening also fetched a point. In the last round they have shared points at home against the favored Naples while they have won before at home against Young Boys and Slovan Bratislava as well as abroad. The only defeat they conceded so at the beginning of the group stage away near Naples. Sparta has reason to be hoped for a positive outcome in this duel against Young Boys. The team also has a great series of five wins and two draws in the account, while it was previously defeated only in the context of the National Championship against Plzen. Almeria is in big trouble and at the last thing they need now is a match at home against fearsome Real. If they have to play it away it would be already lost match, but at home they always hope that will be able to make a surprise, which is really difficult to happen in this situation. Almeria won the last time in the championship at the end of September and that happened away against Deportivo, but we need to say that they still haven’t won at home in this season. Since the aforementioned victory in La Coruna they drew only two times and lost six. During the period they won only once but in the Cup against Betis and again away. In the last round Eibar outclassed them and that was the end for coach Rodriguez, which is quite expected outcome after the aforementioned negative series. The team will lead till further notice his assistant Jaime Ramos and he has nothing to lose in this match. It is a good news that midfielder Verza is back in the team after expiration of the suspension, while the rest of the team will probably stay the same.

Away - Real Madrid

Last away matches - W-W-W-W-W-W

What to say about what Real has done in recent months then that such dominance hadn’t been seen for a long time and such a long series of victory. It is currently 19 victories in a row, which is an absolute record when it comes to the European football and the new objective is figure of 24 victories, which is an absolute record of Brazilian Curitiba. They have favourable schedule for breaking that record, but the twentieth victory shouldn’t slip out of their hands because Almeria is weaker at this point for several classes.Besides playing great in La Liga, Real shines in the Champions League ending the group stage with maximal six wins and an excellent goal difference, which only four teams had managed to do by now, including Real itself a couple a years ago. They steamrolled Ludogorets by 4-0 on last Tuesday, although a combined team run on the pitch. Now will be certainly stronger, for Pepe, Benzema, Marcelo and Carvajal who rested on Tuesday but who will play now. Injured Modric is still out of the team, while a new concern is the J. Rodriguez injury and who also will not play this match.

Burnley vs Southampton

Home - Burnley

Last away matches - L-W-L-D-L-D

Burnley FC have completely reversed their fortunes from looking like the worst team in the English top-flight to suddenly playing as if their lives depended on it. They have gone unbeaten in 4 of their last 5 Premier League matches, picking up more points in this stretch (8) than they had in their previous 10 outings (4 points). The return from injury of last year’s Championship Player of the Year Danny Ings has given this team renewed vigor and some much-needed attacking quality. The young Englishman has now scored 3 goals and provided an assist in his last 4 appearances for the club, but until Sam Vokes can get back from his lengthy injury spell on the sidelines, the offense is clearly relying too heavily upon one player. This was evident last time out in their 0:2 shutout against Queens Park Rangers, who have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season. The Clarets posted 15 total shots in that match, but with just 3 going on target, their finishing is a glaring problem headed into the weekend. Coming up against a team that will be determined to get back to winning ways, Burnley are likely to find themselves stuck in the relegation zone for at least one more week.

Away - Southampton

Last away matches - L-D-W-W-L-W

Southampton FC have taken a massive dip in form after winning 12 of their previous 13 competitive matches. Since that remarkable run from the surprise team of the EPL this season, the Saints have fallen back into 6th place in the table with just 1 point from their last 4 outings. However, that point came on the road against an in-form Aston Villa team, and their 3 defeats came against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal. Only the Arsenal game did they look completely outmatched, and even there they still nearly bagged a point with some resolute defending. But manager Ronald Koeman will be scratching his head after losing to his Dutch compatriot Louis Van Gaal last time out, as the Saints admittedly outplayed the Red Devils all over the pitch. If it weren’t for some horrendous finishing and a few moments of class from Robin van Persie, points were available. But so goes the unforgivable nature of football and the up-and-down madness of the Premier League, and the visitors must have short memories and storm Turf Moor in a very winnable game. Considering Graziano Pelle’s excellent display last time out saw him return to the score sheet, we fancy the Saints to be rewarded this time for a solid display on the road.

Chelsea vs Hull City

Last away matches - L-D-W-W-D-W

Chelsea FC showed that they were mortal after all when they traveled to St. James’ Park last weekend, where the Blues fell to Newcastle 1:2 despite having an extra-man advantage in the dying minutes of the match. However, Chelsea still sit in an excellent spot in the league table with a 3-point lead on 2nd place, Manchester City. The Citizens are closing in on Jose Mourinho’s men, and considering City are set to play 5 rather average teams in their next 5 PL outings, Chelsea would be well-advised to not overlook their upcoming competition, starting with a struggling but talented Hull City squad. In the Tigers’ return to the top-flight last season, the Blues claimed both matches 2:0, and the hosts’ performance over the midweek serves to reinforce the likelihood of their victory this weekend. Against a solid Sporting Lisbon team in the Champions League, Chelsea steamrolled through the Portuguese club to a comfortable 3:1 win, with Andre Schurrle looking particularly impressive and drawing praise from his manager as a result. Furthermore, Diego Costa, John Terry, and Branislav Ivanovic are all expected back in the starting lineup, and this match could turn into another multiple-goal victory for the powerful hosts.

Away - Hull City

Last away matches - D-L-L-D-D-L

Hull City may have managed to avoid defeat for the last 2 matchweeks, but both games ended in draws and mean the Tigers have accumulated just 4 total points through their last 8 Premier League matches. As a result, they now find themselves way down in the relegation zone in 18th place, and it has been a shocking turn of events for a club that invested so heavily over the summer and looked so promising at the start of the season. Manager Steve Bruce is a good manager with plenty of tricks up his sleeve, but it appears that nothing can go his way at the moment, and a trip to Stamford Bridge is a daunting task for a struggling, non-confident team that will be forced to play without their in-form summer signing Mohamed Diame once again. The visitors desperately need Nikica Jelavic to step up and find his goalscoring boots if they stand a chance this weekend, and while the Croatian hasn’t scored since an early-October clash with Crystal Palace, he has been absent in 4 of their last 8 Premier League matches. He will be looked to as the difference-maker this Saturday for an attack that has managed to score just 2 goals in their last 7 PL outings, though even if he can get on the score sheet, keeping Chelsea’s high-flying offense out of their own net on a few occasions will be a near-impossible task. Diame and Snodgrass continue to be absent but are Bruce’s only injury concerns.

Palace have conceded just three goals in their last four and kept a clean sheet in last weekend's draw with Tottenham Hotspur in what was an extremely impressive display, with the Eagles unlucky not to come away from White Hart Lane with all three points.Yannick Bolasie put in a particularly lively individual performance against Spurs, and feels that wins will soon arrive for his team if they keep up such a high level of performance. Leicester City were producing scintillating displays at the start of the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign, but the newcomers then suffered a dip in form. The Foxes are on an eight-match winless run in the national championship and, as a result, they literally hit the bottom of the Premier League standings. Coach Nigel Pearson was even charged by FA over a row with fan during home loss to Liverpool and there is no doubt that Leicester City are running down a blind alley at the moment. The newcomers face an uphill task on day 16 of the new Premier League campaign as they welcome title holder Manchester City at their King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Summer signing Leonardo Ulloa is the only bright star in the team, but I am not sure if he is capable of helping his teammates avoid defeat in the upcoming clash against the Citizens. The Foxes, though, did well to score five goals against Manchester United earlier this season and I would not be surprised if they found the net against Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

Manchester City, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the start of the new Premier League campaign. The Citizens were dropping a lot of points in the opening matches of the season, but the defending champions have been in a brilliant form of late. Thanks to four consecutive wins in the national championship Manuel Pellegrini’s men revived their title hopes and they did well to melt Chelsea’s advantage to just three points in the Premier League standings. Nonetheless, Manchester City do not want to stop now and they will surely go for a win in Saturday’s match against Leicester City. The Citizens did well to defeat Roma on Wednesday night and clinch their spot in the knockout stages of the elite competition and they are surely brimming with confidence ahead of Saturday’s match against Nigel Pearson’s men. In Kun Aguero’s absence, a man to watch in the away side will Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, who has totally overcome his respective injury. Taking everything into account, the visitors are likely to score at least one goal in Saturday’s match against Leicester.

This is one of the main reasons why in the team of Everton on Monday night expect a safe victory over QPR, especially since they are hosting by far the worst away team in the league. On the other hand, coach Martinez players at home in the championship have a series of two wins and as many draws, while they were five days ago in the final round of the Europa League defeated at home with 1-0 by Russian Krasnodar, but has not significant effected their state on the table because Everton and German Wolfsburg have earlier won placement in the knockout phase provided just. But what at the moment a lot more concerning for their coach Martinez is Everton’s series of two away defeats and one draw in the league, which has, after a long time led to their fall at the bottom of the table. Of course if we look at the quality of the players, this team deserves a lot better placement, so they will certainly try to prove and win in this game with the Rangers, especially since their starters got extra time to rest against Krasnodar. We should also mention that their defender Stones, midfielder Gibson and strikers Naismith and Atsu are all out of action due to injuries, and midfielder Barry is suspended.

The guests from London are welcoming this match after they last week at home come to a very important victory of 2-0 against their direct competitor in the fight for survival, Burnley. In this way coach Redknapp’s players have for the first time this season escaped from the relegation zone, but their difference in relation to the other teams is really minimal and they will certainly have a lot of work to definitely get out of this awkward situation. In addition, it should be noted that the Rangers this season won 14 points at home, while they away have a series of seven consecutive defeats, with catastrophic goal difference of 2:17. All this tells us that they will now against Everton probably be set more defensive than usual, especially when we know that because their best scorer Austin does not have the right to play due to a red card. Besides him, the injured midfielders Sandro, Faurlin and Taarabt will also miss this match.

If they don’t want to expressly return to the Segunda, Deportivo players urgently need to improve the way how the play and start winning. This match is one of those which they have a big imperative, because they will face a direct rival in the fight for survival. If they lose this match then they are really in a big trouble, and it is clear this week it was an emergency situation in La Coruna. There are many flaws in the game of this team, and lately the most prominent is chronic inefficiency which costs them a weaker performance and points. They are not the worst in the league at this point but at the last six games in the league they have scored only one goal when they lost at home to Getafe. Coach Fernandez doesn’t even change much the starting lineup recently, simply because he has no choice or a player that could bring refreshment in the game. The good news is that midfielder Farina has recovered and he will refresh the team for this match.

Away - Elche

Last away matches - D-L-D-L-D-L

Elche has fairly similar problems as they scored the same number of goals as Deportivo, but the things got worse recently. Elche has three draws and two defeats in the last five matches and hasn’t scored a single goal in the last three. They even had similar opponents, so Elche also sees an opportunity in this match as they couldn’t parry to stronger teams such as Atletico. They were defeated by the reigning champion by 2-0 at home when they had provided a solid resistance, much better than two rounds ago when Real Sociedad defeated them by 3-0.There are no particularly big changes in the team, because coach Escriba has no more good enough players so he cannot make changes too often. When he tried the result didn’t come, so it will be no surprise the same team show on the pitch as in the previous round, or possibly with one or two changes.

Celta Vigo are on a miserable run of results, losing four in a row in La Liga and not winning in their last five matches and worst of all, they’ve failed to score in all that time, what is giving serious cause for concern. However, in Copa del Rey, Fabian Orellana scored a late winner as Celta Vigo won 3-1 to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit to beat the Segunda Division team Las Palmas 4-3 on aggregate on Tuesday. Joaquin Larrivey and Santiago Mina had Celta ahead in the tie but Nauzet levelled things up before Aythami Artiles was sent off for the visitors. Orellana then popped up two minutes into stoppage time to send Celta to the next round. Some confidence ahead of this match brings that Celta Vigo have won their last 4 home matches against Almeria in all competitions.

Almeria is not a good side. Almeria are tied for the 4th worst scoring rate in La Liga with 12 goals scored. They always try to win the ball back quickly, but then usually punt the ball upfield and hope that someone will be on the receiving end of the cross. Their main area of attack is on the right and center-right but they have a hard time creating shots near goal and their shot accuracy and conversion rate won’t be scaring opposing managers any time soon. The situation gets even worse as also the defense struggles. They have solid tackle and interception numbers, but most of that comes from not having the ball and chasing the opposition around the pitch for the majority of the match.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

Home - Manchester City

Last away matches - W-W-W-W-D-L

Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 8 games in all competitions and they have won 7 in a row heading into this live game to open this Premier League weekend. They have won 4 of their last 5 home games in all competitions including the last 3 in a row, although Manchester City have not won any of those games by more than a single goal. Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko are all expected to miss this game. Stevan Jovetic is doubtful too with Manuel Pellegrini suggesting he might be ruled out until the New Year last week as well as Aguero and Dzeko. Losing Sergio Aguero was a huge blow to Manchester City, but they have shown the heart and determination that still exists within the squad with three consecutive victories since then. The talismanic Argentinian is going to be missing for the next few weeks, but Manuel Pellegrini is confident his Manchester City team can keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table even if they have to do it with a 'false nine' in a few of those games.

Crystal Palace have only lost 1 of their last 5 Premier League games, although the other side of the coin shows that they have only won 1 of their last 10 games. 3 of their last 4 games have ended in draws and Crystal Palace, who haven't won any of their last 5 away games, have also drawn 3 of their last 4 on their travels. Those include respectable draws at Swansea and Tottenham Hotspur in consecutive away games The side are currently 16th in the Premier League table and they are just 1 point clear of Queens Park Rangers in the relegation zone ahead of this latest round of games. Crystal Palace have a respectable 143 record away from Selhurst Park this season, scoring 10 goals and conceding 13, and they would be higher up the League table if producing more results at home.

Aston Villa saw their 5 game unbeaten run come to an end with the defeat at the Hawthornes and they had won back to back games at Crystal Palace and at home against Leicester City before that. The 21 win over Leicester City saw Aston Villa end a 4 game run without a win at Villa Park and they are now unbeaten in 2 games here since consecutive losses against Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Kieran Richardson is suspended and won't face one of his former clubs. Alan Hutton and Tom Cleverley are also suspended, while Ashley Westwood is injured. Philippe Senderos, Nathan Baker and Joe Cole are all hoping to be available after injuries themselves.

Prior to the wins at Arsenal and Southampton, Manchester United had lost 2 of 3 away from home in the Premier League and did need a late equaliser at West Brom to stop that being 3 straight losses. Hull City vs Swansea City

Home - Hull City

Last away matches - L-D-L-L-D-D

Hull City find themselves mired in the relegation zone after 16 rounds of Premier League action. With just 13 points on the season so far, the Tigers are quickly becoming a major discussion point for the relegation debate. While we feel they will ultimately avoid that fate given the quality in their team and the experience of their manager, their form has been very worrying for their cause and has thrust them into a situation of uncertainty. The schedule does lighten up a bit for the hosts over the next few weeks, and that will be a welcome sign after being forced to play Chelsea last weekend with just 10 men for around half an hour. That match was marked in controversy, as referee Chris Foy didn’t do himself any favors by handing out 7 yellow cards and 1 red while missing a number of incidents that could have ended up being automatic send-offs. Manager Steve Bruce brought the hammer down on Foy’s head in his post-match interview but also knows that at some point his players must become accountable on the pitch. Too often the Tigers have been scored upon with relative ease this season, and the defence must tighten up against Wilfried Bony and Company if they hope to expand upon a dismal home record that has seen them pick up a league-low 6 points. It is important to note that Tom Huddlestone is suspended and will serve a 4-match ban with 5 yellow cards as well as his red last time out.

Away - Swansea City

Last away matches - L-L-D-L-L-D

Swansea City fell to a demoralizing defeat last weekend when they allowed an 89th minute goal to Tottenham’s Christian Erikson to fall to just their 2nd loss this season at home (11 competitive matches). The Swans have seen their form slip a bit since flirting with the top 4, as they have lost 3 of their last 5 Premier League games while managing to secure just 4 points during this stretch. They now sit in 9th place as a result, but at just 6 points adrift the top 4, dreams of European involvement will persist within the club. However, that will be an impossible scenario for the Swans if they don’t find a way to correct their horrendous road form, as they have lost 5 of their last 7 competitive road matches while managing to accumulate just 2 points in the process. However, they will come up against a team that has tallied the fewest points at home this season, and with striker Wilfried Bony firing on all cylinders in 2014, look for the Swans to be able to avoid defeat this Saturday. They have a full squad with no fresh injury concerns and should be able to boss most of the possession and opportunities at the KC Stadium

Queens Park Rangers vs W.B.A

Home - Queens Park Rangers

Last away matches - L-L-L-L-L-L

Queens Park Rangers were beaten handily on the road last weekend when they visited Goodison Park. After half an hour of optimistic play, the Hoops conceded 3 goals to the Toffees over the following 30 minutes, and despite a Bobby Zamora finish in the 80′, they fell to their 7th defeat in 7 tries away from Loftus Road. However, they will return to their mini-fortress this weekend where they have gone unconquered in their last 4 while accumulating all 14 of their points this term. With at least 2 goals on all 4 of those occasions, manager Harry Redknapp will be confident of securing some much-needed points this weekend against a beatable West Brom side. It is advised to take heed of the absences of Sandro and Taarabt, but with leading goalscorer Charlie Austin due back from suspension this week, it very well could be 4 wins in their last 5 at Loftus Road.

Away - W.B.A

Last away matches - D-L-W-L-L-W

West Bromwich Albion picked up a narrow 1:0 victory over their rivals last time out, using a second-half Craig Gardner goal and some stern defending to conquer Aston Villa. The result takes them up into 14th place and saw them earn their second consecutive clean sheet. However, they still dangle above the relegation zone at just 3 points off, and defeat this weekend would see QPR jump into a tie on points with the Baggies. Road form for the visitors has been solid though with 4 points in their last 3 trips, and Alan Irvine will know that a positive result this Saturday would go a long way towards their safety pursuit. With both Brown Ideye and Silvestre Varela drawing praise from their coach following their victory last weekend, it’ll be interesting to see whether the pair can continue to grow in stature and justify their summer moves. If Varela can impose himself down the flank on QPR right-back Isla, this result could go very well for the travelers. However, with just 3 goals in 7 Premier League road games this season, the draw appears to be the best-case scenario for them this weekend.

Southampton vs Everton

Last away matches - L-L-L-D-W-W

Southampton have been misfiring in front of net during their five game losing streak with only one goal in those five. The only goal in those five was scored by their Italian summer signing, Graziano Pelle. The Italian is the team’s top scorer, but after a red hot start to the season, the former Feyenoord striker has cooled down with only one goal in his last seven for the Saints. With Southampton missing their secind and third highest goalscorers in Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama, Pelle will have to step up and return to the form he showed earlier in the season. With the team struggling for goals in this bad run of form, Ronald Koeman needs his out and out goalscorer to start scoring goals again or else Saints could continue their slide down the table.

After signing a new three year deal at Everton earlier this week, Steven Naismith will be the key man for Everton in their match with Southampton. The Scotsman’s versatility makes him fit well in Roberto Martinez’s system. He usually gets in the number 10 hole, but he can switch with the wingers or the striker making him hard to track. After his goal on Monday, Naismith signed his new three year contract. The former Rangers man will hope to continue his good week with a good performance at St Mary’s.

Last away matches - D-L-L-D-D-L

There is no end to Granada’s suffering and now they hope that a success in the Cup could be an additional motive for the championship. They somehow managed to eliminate Cordoba in two matches after they minimally won at home by 1-0, and then pulled off a draw of 1-1 away, although they played the last minutes of that match without excluded Marquez. In the previous season they were on the verge to grab a point from Espanyol’s claws but then had conceded a goal in the last minute. We must say that they played the finish of that match with one player less.Exactly as the saying “you win some, you lose some” says two rounds ago they saved a point against Valencia with a goal scored in the very finish of the match. When it all boils down, they are very close to the relegation zone, largely thanks to only nine scored goals this season, which is really pathetic. Especially bad is that they scored at home only three goals, and yet they have won six points in those matches. Midfielder Foulquier is back in the team, after expiration of suspension because of five yellow cards, while midfielder Rochina is still out of action.

Away - Getafe

Last away matches - W-D-L-W-W-L

Getafe cab breathe much easier because this team have five points more than teams in the relegation zone and they linked four matches without defeat, which is the longest successful series of the season for this team. The problem is that they defeated Eibar twice in the Cup and went further, but only drew the other two matches in the championship so they are without a victory since the end of October and they played five matches since then. The positive thing about the last two draws is that the first one was achieved in the away match with Levante, while the second one was made in the last round at home against Barcelona when the result read at the end 0-0.Something like that is always good for self-confidence, because it is a great thing to not receive a goal by such rival. They went to Eibar is the good mood after that and defeat them in the second leg of the Cup by 2-1, although the team was quite changed. Given that there are no new problems with injuries it seems logical that coach Contra will send the same team on the pitch as he did against Barcelona.

Elche sit rock bottom of the La Liga table and will try to improve on that when they are visited by Malaga. The Islanders are 7th, 17 points ahead of Elche, and could climb as high as 5th with a win. Everything to play for here. I can't find many reasons to doubt Malaga getting a win. Sure, Elche are home and desperate for points, but that hasn't stopped them losing their last 3 games. Indeed, they haven't even scored a goal in those 3 straight La Liga defeats

Away - Malaga

Malaga have won 2 straight, with clean sheets too. They recently suffered back to back losses but losing 31 at Atletico Madird, the reigning champions, and then only just losing 21 against a rampant Real Madrid is hardly poor. Prior to those losses Malaga were on a tear, winning 5 straight league games, meaning they have won 7 of their last 9 La Liga games. They won 4 of those games with clean sheets. Malaga's ability to defend means Elche will do well to score, let alone the 2 they will need to have a chance at a point. Elche have been stopped from getting on the scoresheet in 4 of their last 5 games, and they have not won any of those 5 games. Elche are yet to stop any of their visitors from scoring this season.

Athletic Bilbao vs Atletico Mardrid

Last away matches - D-D-W-W-D-W

Athletic is significantly better recently if we compare them to the beginning of the season when they really struggled. That is why they failed in the Champions League but at least had won the third place and the Europa League. In the championship they had an unexpected blunder and lost at home to Cordoba, while everything else was very good and are now in the middle of the table. It was very important for their self-confidence was that they stayed undefeated in the great Basque derby with Real Sociedad, which was a draw, although they very early conceded a goal and the played the last ten minutes without excluded stopper Laporte. In the Cup they troubled a bit against Alcoyano and after the draw away they won at home by 1-0 at home playing with a slightly different team. The team for this match will be changed for sure, because Laporte cannot play and midfielder Iturraspe has five yellow cards. The absence of these two players is a big handicap, and on top of it comes Iraolu who was injured before. Gurpegui and Ibai Gomez will probably step-in, and we will see smaller changes of positions for certain players.

Away - Atletico Mardrid

It seems that the current champion is still in mild crisis in the finish of the first part of the season, because it didn’t happened for a long time that this team don’t win for three consecutive matches, while in the last round they lost a match at home in the championship after a very long time. Now are lagging behind leading Real for substantial seven points and defence of the title seems like ever more distant so what remains is a struggle to win places that lead in the Champions League, the competition where Atletico did an excellent job in the group stage. They still play in the Cup, although they didn’t really need to draw at home with third leage L’Hospitalet. It was 2-2 and the passage in the next round was not in jeopardy as they won by 3-0 at home, but for the sake of reputation they had to win. Forward Mandzukic was great again with two goals but in the last round he go the fifth yellow card and if the disciplinary commission doesn’t to pardon him in the last minute he will miss the away match in Bilbao. Forward Cerci is injured so Jimenez could be the most forward positioned player in the team, and it is expected that Griezmann play instead of Raul Garcia.

Stoke City vs Chelsea

Last away matches - D-L-L-W-L-L

Stoke haven't really lit up their home ground this season. They have had three wins and three defeats there this season as well as one draw. They are not defensively sound at the back as they used to be and have conceded a goal in each of their last 10 Premier League games. What Stoke does not want to be reminded here is that they have failed to score in five of the last six Premier League games against Chelsea. Chelsea’s use of the wide areas of the pitch is one of their strong points as they look to stretch apart and attack the space or solitary defender. This will mean a busy match for Stoke’s full-backs who will have to judge when to sit back and cover alongside supporting the winger in front of him in attack. The work rate of Phil Bardsley will be important then for Stoke and the Scottish right-back has done well since his move to the club in the summer. Making more tackles than any other Stoke player with 42, Bardsley will need to be on the top of his game on Monday night.

Chelsea goes into this match being on top of Christmas and they will know that four of the five teams top at Christmas have won the Premier League in the past so this means they have a good chance of doing so come end season. Also it is worth to mention that seven of the last 10 teams to be top at Christmas have gone on to lift the title. Of the three times that Chelsea have led by Christmas time, they have gone on to lift the title in May. Last Monday Chelsea beat Stoke for a 20 win and responded well to Manchester City who had won earlier in the weekend. Now they go into Boxing Day against West Ham, and Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games played on Boxing Day (W5 D4). It should be noted that their last five Boxing Day matches have all been low scoring affair, with just six goals scored in those five games.

West Ham continued their great season when they beat Leicester 20 last weekend at Upton Park. That is five games unbeaten now in the top flight for the Hammers (W4 D1) and just one defeat in their last eight. They do have goals in them because they have only failed to score in two of their seventeen matches played this season. The players to watch for them will be Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll. But when you consider that they have failed to score in each of their last three visits to Stamford Bridge then again it represents a huge task for them here. For the record, Sam Allardyce has managed just two wins in 21 Premier League games against Chelsea (W2 D6 L13) and the Hammers have failed to score in four of the last five Premier League games against Chelsea. And if we look further into the record then we can see that West Ham have won just one of their last sixteen Premier League matches against Chelsea, losing twelve and winning three. Manchester United failed to extend their winning run to seven matches in a row when they came unstuck against Aston Villa in their last match and that was painful for van Gaal especially as Villa were reduced to ten man. They are still unbeaten in the Premiership with a form of W6 D1 L1 so you cannot really fault them. The Red Devils do have a good record on Boxing Day as well. For the record, Manchester United have lost just one of 20 Barclays Premier League games they have played on December 26th (W17 D2 L1). And when you look at their home form it is even more impressive because United have have won 17 of the last 18, have been victorious in the last 10 in a row and have won the last 10 on Boxing Day at Old Trafford. These two was involved in a thrilling Boxing Day clas which saw Manchester United won 43.

Last Sunday they were beaten against bitter rivals Sunderland for the third time in a row in the Premier League and that will have caused Alan Pardew side to suffer a drop in confidence as well. This season, Newcastle United have not been very strong away from home. West Brom have won just 1 of their last 7 games and even that victory over Aston Villa was thanks in large part to Kieran Richardson's early sending off. The bigger worry for Alan Irvine has to be the fact that they have lost 5 of those games, while West Brom had lost 3 in a row at home before the victory over Aston Villa. That win also snapped a run of 5 home games without a win for West Brom since their 40 success against Burnley. The Baggies were dropped down to 15th in the Premier League thanks to Sunderland's win at Newcastle United and West Brom are just 2 points clear of Burnley in the relegation zone. Tottenham comes into this match managing three wins in a row but they will be severely tested by Manchester United here. Their three wins managed by Tottenham were narrow ones all by 21 scores against the likes of Swansea, Burnley and Leicester. So they have not been convincing wins or against top class opponents. For the record, Tottenham haven’t won any of their last 13 Premier League home matches against Manchester United at White Hart Lane (W0 D5 L8). However, they are unbeaten in their last two though against the Red Devils, having taken back to back home draws against the Red Devils. But if you look at Tottenham's record on home soil this season then it does niot look very impressive with a W4 D1 L4 record. Nevertheless Tottenham have been improving as they have gone unbeaten in their last three matches there with two wins and a draw. Those wins were by 21 scoreline. Southampton have kept clean sheets in six of their nine home league matches this term so their backline is their strength this season. In their last two games they have conceded only one goal so they are tightening up at the back once more. However one statistics they do not want to be reminded here is that Southampton have won just one of the last 10 Barclays Premier League matches against Chelsea (W1 D3 L6). The player to watch for Southampton will be Shane Long as he has scored in three of his last four Premier League starts against Chelsea. Then there is also Graziano Pelle. Jay Rodriguez has opened the scoring in two of the last three matches against Chelsea so he is another player to keep an eye out for. That means that even though they have responded, they clearly don’t have the proven form against the top sides in the Premiership. This will be a tough testing time for Southampton as atough run of matches to come as they face Arsenal and then Manchester United after meeting Chelksea on Sunday.

Chelsea have scored in each of their last nine league trips to Southampton, scoring more than once six times in this run and with their current form, no doubt they are favourites to get the win here. Other then scoring more goals against West Ham on Boxing Day they were impressive in that win. After the defeat to Newcastle and the draw against Sunderland, Chelsea managed to silence their critics when they beat Stoke 20 before Christmas. Chelsea have managed a W5 D3 L1 record on the road, but have won just two of their last five on their travels. Jose Mourinho's side have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League away matches (W8 D3 L1) so you can't see them losing here.

Last away matches - W-L-D-L-L-D

Steve Bruce’s two-month wait for a Premier League victory came to an end after Hull City beat his former employers Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light. The Tigers now officially find themselves in a relegation dogfight, but things could still get better for them before the new year if they manage to get three points against rock-bottom Leicester City. In addition to the poor form, the growing injury list is another concern for worry for manager Steve Bruce. He has made the necessary steps already to soften the blow by recalling two of his players on loan to bolster his squad in Figureoa and Tom Ince. With them back and probably available for selection, Steve Bruce will be looking to turn the fortunes of the side ahead of 2015.

Leicester City have now gone 13 games without a win after their stunning 5-3 victory against Man Utd back in September. Eleven of those games have ended in losses with two draws, keeping them at the foot of the table six points from safety. The Foxes started the season brightly but have hit a brick wall with no way around it. Chris Wood and Matt Upson will undergo late fitness tests to determine their availability for the final clash of 2014 but keeper Kasper Schmeichel could miss the next month due to a foot injury. Leonardo Ulloa was one of the main reasons for Leicester’s impressive start to the season with five goals in his first five games. But since those first five games Leicester have not managed a single win and Ulloa has only scored one goal, showing the impact he has on the team.

Stoke City vs W.B.A

Home - Stoke City

Last away matches - W-D-L-L-W-L

Stoke City traveled to Liverpool on Boxing Day to take on Everton at Goodison Park, and the result couldn’t have gone any better, as manager Mark Hughes hailed their perfect team setup as the main catalyst behind their 1:0 upset victory. Bojan Krkic calmly collected another goal to his tally with a first-half penalty kick, and the Potters now find themselves in 11th place and 7 comfortable points above the relegation zone. However, they’ll need to correct some recent woes at home if they hope to continue in their vein of form, as just 1 win at the Britannia with 3 defeats in their last 5 competitive fixtures will not sit well with Hughes or the fans. They conceded at least 2 goals in all 5 of those matches, though the clean sheet last time out will have them confident of returning to typical form at home where they have established a fortress in recent years. Against a team that has scored just 4 total goals in 10 Barclay’s Premier League meetings with the hosts, it’s probably wise to place your money on the Potters this weekend.

Away - W.B.A

Last away matches - L-D-L-W-L-L

West Bromwich Albion have slipped back into familiar territory just above the relegation zone. After finishing in 17th place last season, the Baggies find themselves back in the dreaded fight to stay alive. At 2 points above the drop, they will be eager to find points on the road this weekend when they travel to the Britannia Stadium. Extra motivation won’t be necessary as the players know of their woes against the Potters since the Premier League’s inception in 1992, but that doesn’t always translate into success, and the Baggies will need to sure up a defence that has conceded 6 goals in their last 2 Premier League outings. They allowed Manchester City into their own net 3 times in the first half last time out, and while Stoke are admittedly nowhere close to having the offensive firepower of the Citizens, it’s still a cause for concern this matchweek. The travelers will take confidence from the fact that record-signing Brown Ideye scored his first Premier League goal on Boxing Day, but defeat nevertheless appears imminent for the Baggies.
